Yates calls for focus after draw
Kidderminster Harriers manager Mark Yates has urged his side to take a lesson from two points dropped in the heat of Histon.
The Aggborough men were a goal up and cruising after skipper Chris McPhee's first-half strike, only to end up scorched by Craig Hammond's equaliser.
Harriers should have been out of sight before then, with McPhee thwarted by goalkeeper Danny Naisbitt and Brian Smikle having a goal disallowed for offside eight minutes before conceding.
And it was a mix-up between the usually dependable Martin Riley and the otherwise excellent goalkeeper Dean Coleman that put it on a plate for the Histon sub, finally wilting under the conditions at an always difficult to go to Bridge Road.
Yates admits it was two points dropped, but concedes that his players were always up against it on Saturday.
He said: "It was hot on the touchline never mind running about on the pitch.
"It was sweltering out there and the pitch was dry. It wasn't conducive to free-flowing football so we had to work hard, and we did."
"But when you gift teams goals like we did, you're going to find it hard to go away with a win."
