Glover ready to follow James' lead

Lee Glover has told fellow featherweight prospect Troy James "you ain't seen nothing yet" as he prepares to finally make his professional debut.

'The Tipton Slasher' will make his bow against Daniel Amache at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on September 18, some two months after James punched for pay for the first time on the same ground.

Glover was also meant to debut on the bill but was not medically cleared after a brain scan in time to fight, meaning he could only watch as 'Terrifying' took apart veteran Anthony Hanna in three rounds.

Now 'the Slasher' - who defeated James decisively in one amateur bout - is ready to enter the fray, and warns he will be looking to top what his Barry McGuigan-led rival managed in July.

And that is a theme that the big-punching new kid on the block aims to continue throughout his professional voyage.

He said: "We have a little bit of a rivalry from back in those days, because we were both the best thing going at the weight when we were amateurs. But, for me, I was always that step above him.

"There's a lot of hype surrounding Troy now but I beat him comfortably then, so I don't think he is in my league at all. I was gutted when he made his debut and I didn't, I felt it was an opportunity missed.

"I did go and watch him fight, and to be fair to him he did the business against Anthony. It made my confidence about my debut a bit better really, because if he can do things like that, would could I do?

"We will see at the Civic."
