Rangers patched up for tough trip

Stafford Rangers manager Chris Brindley has told his patched-up side that any points from two tough away games in succession will be a bonus.

The Marston Road men go to second-placed Droylsden tomorrow (3pm), before a trip to third-placed Southport on Tuesday night.

And Rangers must now do without Ben Mills - it has been confirmed the ankle injury the 20-year-old striker suffered in Monday's home defeat to Solihull Moors will keep him out of both games.

He joins Luke Morgan and Andy Owens on the injured list, with goalkeepers Tom Harrison and Lee Evans also major doubts.

Planned No 1 Evans is still waiting for his debut after signing in the summer from Chasetown and was on the bench last time out, but is still experiencing problems kicking the ball after an ankle injury.

All leaves Brindley with no sign of respite before kick-off at the Butchers Arms.

He said: "If we can pick anything up out of these two games it's a bonus, simple as that. We have had a horrendous run with injuries, which has made it really difficult.

"At our club, if we have our best side out we have a chance, but injuries to key men are really costing us at the moment.

"It's been key areas as well, but we will keep patching up the side and kick on."

Brindley must also pick up a side crestfallen after taking one point from two games over the Bank Holiday weekend, with a point that should have been more at Vauxhall Motors followed by defeat from a winning position against Solihull.

The Rangers boss wants his players to forget the past and concentrating on making life difficult for their upcoming opponents.

He said: "It's gone now, thats it, and we have two tough away games to come. Every game at this level is hard, but these are two particularly hard trips.

"All we can do is take each match as it comes and see what we can do."
