Rangers extend Davidson loan
Stafford Rangers have extended the loan of Port Vale midfielder Ross Davidson for another month and could be looking for another striker.
The 19-year-old was injured for Monday's 3-2 loss to Solihull Moors but has been an ever-present otherwise and, having been told he has no future at Vale Park, will stay at Marston Road until after the home game with Hinckley on October 3.
But Rangers boss Chris Brindley may have to make transfer moves again after losing Ben Mills to an ankle injury, leaving only Nick Wellecomme left as an out-and-out forward.
The manager could opt to revert to 4-5-1 with tough away games at Droylsden and Southport next up, in which the returning Davidson and new signing Levi Reid could make up the numbers.
Reid officially returned to his home-town club last week as a free agent, some two years since leaving for League Two Macclesfield.
Brindley will now be left to weigh up his options as he runs the rule over his players at training tonight.
He said: "We will be taking Ross for another month. He has done alright for us and we need all hands on deck, so we are happy to keep him on. The situation with Levi is that he has signed for now and is helping us out, how long he will be here for we will have to wait and see.
"We are obviously missing Ben, who won't play with his injury. It's a blow for him because he has done very well, in fact I am very pleased with the front two. It's possible I may have to bring another striker in.
"Until we train, I am not going to be sure exactly where we are."
The manager will also speak to defender Nick Amos today, who has been allowed to join Hednesford on a game-to-game basis, to establish whether he will rejoin the Rangers squad for training tonight and the weekend schedule.
The veteran stopper has already played two full games for the Pitmen, with Brindley admitting the player needs is games.
He said: "I will speak to Nick today and discuss what we are going to do next, whether he will train with us tonight or not. But 180 minutes of football under his belt wouldn't have done him any harm at all."
