McDermott fighting to stay in side
Kidderminster attacker David McDermott is looking to take on all comers and earn a sustained run in the Harriers side - whatever the system in place.
The 21-year-old has been in and out of the side since signing from Walsall in the summer of 2008, but has been recalled to the right-wing for the last three games.
McDermott has been keeping another highly-rated attacker in Darryl Knights out of the side, who is pushing hard at his heels for his place back.
And a faltering team performance against Tamworth in a 2-1 defeat on Bank Holiday Monday could encourage manager Mark Yates to make changes for Saturday's visit of Eastbourne.
Both players favour the 'in the hole' role behind the strikers, but Harriers should also have striker Robbie Matthews back for the weekend and have Aaron Farrell fit again.
But McDermott is happy to play it the manager's way, as long as he continues to get his chance.
He said: "I just want a decent run in the team, it's hard to get any consistency when you are not starting games. I would like to play in the hole, given the choice, but because I can play in a few positions I have been used in different areas.
"That's fine, as long as I can keep my place."
McDermott and Brian Smikle on the left flank have been used to 'push up' and assist lone striker Matthew Barnes-Homer since his recall, which was going great guns with all three on the score-sheet over the first two games.
But now Yates may want to shuffle his pack again and McDermott is unsure what will happen next.
He said: "It's hard to call really. We have had a lot of injuries that might have forced the gaffer's hand a little bit in what he can do until now. The 4-5-1 was working until we went to Tamworth, but it was just one of those days for us.
"We should be beating those sort of teams, so it was very disappointing."
