Brindley targets Bank Holiday banker

Stafford Rangers manager Chris Brindley has set his in-form side a minimum target of one win from two games over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The Blue Square North double-header takes in a trip to Vauxhall Motors tomorrow (3pm), before Solihull Moors are the visitors on Bank Holiday Monday (3pm).

They will find a Rangers side in much-improved form over the last three games, taking seven out of nine points on offer to climb to 10th place.

Further progress over the next two games would set a significant marker for Brindley's men, with two tough away games at Droylsden and Southport to follow.

Now the manager has made it clear what he expects from his players.

He said: "It's a big weekend for us, because we have got some tough trips coming up after his. We need to get something from the two games, at least a win so we have three points to show for it come Monday night.

"From two games, it is the least we can expect to keep ticking over, so that must be our lowest target. Hopefully we can do better than that."

The two games may have come too soon for goalkeeper Lee Evans, despite his return from injury in a 45 minute run-out for the reserves against Bromsgrove on Wednesday night.

His ankle problems mean he is still experiencing problems kicking the ball, so young Danny Allen is set to continue between the sticks.

Winger Luke Morgan is also a big doubt having only just returned to training, but defender Nick Amos has declared himself fit after his 90 minutes for the second-string.

He said: "I feel fine, so hopefully I can be involved at the weekend in some stage. At the start of the season you don't won't to take any time off, so I am dying to get back.

"We will have to see what the manager decides."
