Show no mercy urges Harriers boss

Kidderminster Harriers manager Mark Yates has urged his side to be more ruthless as they aim to bounce back at Grays in the Blue Square Premier.

Harriers have not won or scored a goal since beating Hayes & Yeading on the opening day and were on the wrong end of a late home reverse against Kettering on Tuesday night.

An away loss and draw in between have also failed to produce a breakthrough but performances have not been as bad as results suggest - only defeat at Salisbury has been a game where the Aggborough men were not the better side.

But not taking their chances has cost them and, while the manager is pleased with his side's overall play, Yates has declared now is the time to start going for the kill.

He said: "We have got to be more ruthless, at both ends of the pitch. We have got to start turning performances into results and it's a case of just taking our chances. We have played some really good stuff, but it's all about winning games at the end of the day.

"We are not beating ourselves up, we know when we perform we are good as anything there is."

Yates' frustration will continue at the New Rec tomorrow (3pm) if there is a repeat of the corresponding fixture last season, where Harriers wiped the floor with their hosts only to go down 3-2.

And their record at the New Rec is poor, having only picked up a point in four of their last meetings in Essex.

Yates added: "Grays is a tough place to go, they have signed lots of players and have a different manager now, so it will be a tough game."
