Rangers wait on injured stars

Stafford Rangers manager Chris Brindley will have to patch up his side even further this weekend as his side look to build on their sterling work.

The Marston Road men have been hit by injuries from the off in the new Blue Square North season, but have rebounded from opening with two defeats to record back-to-back wins against Workington and at Redditch on Tuesday night.

Their latest success came from a side still shorn of new goalkeeper Lee Evans, experienced defender Nick Amos and winger Luke Morgan through injury, while second-choice keeper Tom Harrison had to be replaced at half-time with an ankle injury.

All are doubts for Saturday's home game with Farsley, with the team looking to record three league wins in a row for the first time since Brindley was appointed manager last December.

He said: "We have a group of players in possession of the shirts, and they are all looking to stay in the team.

"But we have had a terrible run of injuries, which have not helped the situation, so credit to the lads for the way they have come through it. We have bought a goalkeeper that hasn't played yet, Luke and Nick are not playing, so we are picking the side game to game at the moment.

"I need to see the players train tonight to see is fit and available, then I can pick my best team from there."
