Rangers bid to end goal drought
Stafford Rangers manager Chris Brindley has told his shot-shy side they need to start firing to get off the mark against Workington.
The Blue Square North club have played two, lost two, in the opening week of the campaign, a 1-0 defeat at Hyde on the opening day followed by a 2-0 loss to promoted Corby in the Marston Road curtain-raiser on Tuesday night.
What has further worried Brindley is the team's inability to score goals, a plight which began in pre-season and has snowballed into 2009/10.
Rangers were goalless in three games before the big kick-off and - with new striker Ben Mills and Nick Wellecomme feeding off scraps in attack - the manager wants to see urgency going forward tomorrow (3pm).
He said: "We are not miles away, but we need to start scoring goals, that is the main area of concern. This is a game that we need to be looking to take maximum points from.
"What we can't let happen is to go three and four games without picking up points, so we have got to go out to win the game.
"Workington won't be easy, we played them twice last season and drew both games, so we know how tough they are to break down."
Rangers will give late fitness tests to defender Nick Amos (bruised ribs) and goalkeeper Lee Evans (ankle).
