Rangers are hit by injuries
Stafford Rangers boss Chris Brindley faces an anxious few days waiting on the fitness of defender Nick Amos.
The former Halesowen Town stopper took a knock during last night's 2-0 defeat by Blue Square North new boys Corby Town but played on through the pain.
Brindley said: "Nick had a bad knock but we are struggling in that area so, fair play to him, he soldiered on. He could possibly have cracked a rib so has to be doubtful for the weekend. It's tough at the moment, we were down to the bare bones. We were without Andy Owens – although he should be back for the weekend – and I had two defenders turn me down this week."
First half goals from Gavin Strachan and Leon Mettam wrapped up Corby's win and left Boro searching for their first point of the season. But Brindley was pleased with his side's display, particularly in the second half.
He said: "There are a lot of youngsters and at half-time I told them to go out and enjoy it and that they were under no pressure – everyone thought the game had gone.
"We went and played some lovely football and there were a lot of positives. I'll sleep easily because if they keep playing like that it will turn. That was attractive to watch and I can walk into the club and face everyone when we play like that."
Striker Nick Wellecomme also picked up an injury last night but Brindley is hopeful the tall targetman should recover in time for Saturday's game with Workington at Marston Road.
