Striker search on hold for Harriers

Kidderminster manager Mark Yates admits the club's search for a new striker will have to wait until after Harriers' trip to Salisbury.

The Aggborough boss has been looking to bring in a partner for Matthew Barnes-Homer ever since tying the 23-year-old to a new two-year deal in June.

So far only Aaron Farrell has been signed from Sutton Coldfield Town as the other out-and-out option, but is not viewed as completely ready to be thrust into the first-team.

He is injured anyway, out of tonight's trip to the Raymond McEnhill Stadium (7:45pm) and possibly Saturday's match at Ebbsfleet.

But still Yates' only focus is on the task in hand, although the manager has irons in the fire that he intends to come back to.

He said: "I just want to get on with preparing for the game and we will see what happens on that front. We have a tough trip and thats needs all of my concentration, so it will probably be Wednesday or Thursday before I can really do anything.

"We are still after one player in particular, I spoke to his club at the back end of last week but we have not been able to get anything firmed up yet.

"In fact, I am still trying on a couple of fronts, so we will have to see where we go."

Tonight Harriers face a Salisbury side in transition under new boss Tommy Widdrington, after long-serving predecessor Nick Holmes was moved upstairs to become general manager.

But the Whites started the season with a bang in a 2-0 win at Rushden, while Yates' men were beating promoted Hayes & Yeading through Barnes-Homer's winner at Aggborough.

The manager added: "Salisbury will have the wind in their sails, so we know it's going to be tough, but we go there full of confidence after our win.

"We will be looking for the win, we go everywhere looking for the win. That is our aim."
