Klindt's heartfelt thank you to fans

Wolves ace Nicolai Klindt issued a heartfelt thank-you to the club's fans after the team's home league match with Peterborough.

The Dane stepped down from his side's match at Swindon last week to prepare for the following night's domestic final, in which he finished fifth.

He was entitled to the time off but the decision and its alleged lateness brought a public rebuke from club management and criticism from supporters, although the match was rained off in any event.

But once Klindt put his side of the matter the tide of fan reaction turned and the 20-year-old was very grateful for the big reception he received from fans last night.

He said: "I'm very happy that the fans were cheering and all that. It's important to me and for the rest of the team, because without the fans we can't win."

Klindt now faces an agonising wait to see if he has secured the coveted wild card spot in the Nordic Grand Prix at Vojens on August 29.

His paid 10 return last night will have done him no harm – and neither will his emphatic win over fellow countryman Kenneth Bjerre, who was second in the Latvian GP at the start of the month.

He said: "I hope I can take it. I had a good meeting today and a good meeting on Friday.

"I think I could have scored more points on Friday, but it's always easy to say afterwards. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that they pick me."
