Brindley looking for right formula

Stafford manager Chris Brindley is continuing to look for the right formula after his side suffered an opening day defeat at Hyde.

Rangers opened the Blue Square North season with a narrow 1-0 defeat on Saturday, going down to a dubious goal from Nathan Arnold in the second-half.

A patched-up side shorn of injured duo Lee Evans and Richard Vauls did improve as the game wore on, with the manager forced to blood trialists Tom Harrison in goal and Fabia Kassia at left-back.

But Andy Owens came in at centre-half for his debut, while Ross Davidson showed promise in midfield after his month's loan move from Port Vale.

Luke Morgan also started on the right-wing after his summer move, while new striker Ben Mills had his work cut out for him deployed as a lone forward.

And losing to a contentious goal - which had more than a hint of offside about it - gave some hope, with Brindley insisting his line-up is far from the finished article.

He said: "We will chop and change during the season, I am sure. At the moment, with the season just started, we are just trying to find a formula. It depends on the players who are in the side really, it's up to them.

"If they perform, they will keep the shirt, if they don't, I will make changes."
