Brindley promises action after loss
Stafford manager Chris Brindley has promised to ring the changes after tearing into his players in the wake of a pre-season defeat to Hednesford.
Goals from strikers Justin Nisbett and Tyrone Barnett handed the Pitmen the Cannock Chase charity trophy at Marston Road on Saturday, 2-0 on the day and 4-1 on aggregate after the first leg at the Grove on July 18.
It was the manner of their submission that left Brindley fuming after the game, as Rangers closed out their summer schedule with another loss, the sixth in eight friendly matches since the start of last month.
One-goal wins against local minnows Heath Hayes and Stone Old Alleynians are all the team have to show for their efforts.
None of this bodes well for the season opener at Hyde on Saturday and, with the mood sombre in the camp, the manager has promised action.
He said: "That was totally unacceptable, a shocking performance. At the end of the day it's my fault. I brought the players to the club and, on that evidence, they're not good enough. We were abysmal.
"Some of the players fancy it when it's going well, but at other times they just don't want to know. We have no money, at the club so you have to go for unproven players. But on that evidence, they are never going to be proven.
"It probably does me a favour, as deep down I probably knew some of them aren't good enough. It's not fair – it kills the directors and it kills the supporters.
"I will keep trying to get players in this week, because that was an unacceptable performance from a Stafford Rangers side."
