Rangers full strength for Hednesford

Stafford Rangers manager Chris Brindley will have his starting line-up for the opening day of the season in mind when Hednesford are the visitors.

The Rangers boss will put out his strongest side at Marston Road in the second deciding leg of the Cannock Chase charity trophy tomorrow (3pm), with the Unibond League Premier outfit leading 1-0 from their home game at Keys Park.

In his team's final pre-season friendly, Brindley - a former Pitmen player, assistant manager and boss - must now put one over on his old club to win the inaugural tournament.

The manager will name the team that he expects to open the Blue Square North season at Hyde in eight days, and - after some disappointing results in the close season - will be looking for the result that can put a spring in their step for the week ahead.

He said: "It's an ideal game for us, the last good test of our pre-season. Results haven't been great but they are irrelevant really, it's for fitness and getting an understanding between the boys.

"This is another good test, Hednesford are a strong side who have brought in some good players. We need a confidence-booster before the opening game of the season, so we need to put in a strong performance.

"The team I will pick for this game will be as strong as I can, I have the 11 in mind for the game."

Rangers expect to have completed the permanent signings of left-back Richard Vauls and winger Luke Morgan in time for the game, but defender Nick Amos is absent due to work commitments.
