Sharpe signs up at Aggborough
Kidderminster Harriers have signed a fourth trial player to a contract after defender Tom Sharpe penned a short-term deal.
The 20-year-old joins Duane Courtney, Kyle Hadley and Aaron Farrell as free agents staying with the club for the Blue Square Premier season.
Coming through the ranks at Nottingham Forest, he was a fixture in the club's reserve side last season, before being released by the Reds at the end of his professional contract this summer.
A former Bury loanee, Sharpe has played in five of Harriers' pre-season games since joining up for pre-season training, doing enough to convince manager Mark Yates he is worth keeping on.
The club need the cover at the back, with Martin Riley the only out-and-out central defender confirmed as on the books.
Yates said: "Tom has been excellent for us and he's another player who just wants a chance to do well.
"He's a good, young talent who has an excellent football upbringing. He wants to play the right way and we're pleased to have him with us."
One player leaving Harriers is midfielder Sam Foley, who has joined Newport after a deal was reached for his transfer.
The 22-year-old leaves without making a first-team appearance for the club since signing from Cheltenham last summer, but was offered a deal to stay at Aggborough.
Yates said: "Sam goes with our best wishes. I know he is enjoying it over there and we wish him well for the future."
