Swedes up to speed as Wolves earn vital reward

Storming performances from super Swedes Peter Karlsson and Fredrik Lindgren chiselled out another vital away point for Wolves.
The visitors had produced a stunning eight-point away win at the Showground last month.
But a repeat never looked on the cards last night, despite the best efforts of their top pairing.
Instead it was Ales Dryml, part of the original 2008 Wolves line-up, who spearheaded the Panthers' challenge and helped them bounce back from Wednesday night's loss at Poole.
Another Wolf from last season, Niels-Kristian Iversen, scored paid 10 but it was Dryml's six-ride paid 15 from the customary graveyard number two slot that really hurt.
The Parrys International Wolves kept it relatively tight early on and trailed by only four points after five races.
But engine failure for Wolves skipper Karlsson while leading heat six – his only dropped points all night – gifted the home side a 5-1 and they never looked back.
Karlsson invariably impresses at the Showground – he was a Panther in both 2000 and 2005 – and the veteran Swede duly nailed a six-point tactical ride outing in heat nine to stem the tide.
But the visitors, with neither reserve able to take a point off the opposition, looked down and out when 15 points adrift with only three heats left.
However, the best was yet to come for the travelling fans. Lindgren donned the black and white helmet in the 13th heat and made a superb start to reel off his third successive victory, while Karlsson beat off a determined challenge from Iversen.
The 8-1 gave Wolves a shot at prising out a point from a close defeat – but they needed to get something from the penultimate heat.
Adam Skornicki duly delivered with a vital race win that kept the margin at eight points. That, in turn, meant the Lindgren/Karlsson duo had to take a heat advantage from the final race.
Very rarely this season have they failed to deliver when the chips are down – and again they didn't disappoint.
While Dryml made the start, Karlsson hunted him down and was ahead inside a lap with Lindgren holding the crucial third place from Iversen.
It may not have been a win, but Wolves will regard a point on a big track as a good night's work.
