Back break for Wolves reserve

Wolves reserve Hynek Stichauer's season is effectively over after the plucky Czech broke a bone in his back during a Polish League match in Hungary.

Club owner Chris Van Straaten reckons the recovery period will rule the rider out for the rest of the campaign.

He said: "He's broken the L1 vertebra, so realistically his season is probably over. The doctor said eight weeks, so that takes us to the end of September and really his season is over, which is a pity.

"I think the crowd have really taken to him and the team certainly get on with him."

His absence will give Wolves a headache, particularly on Thursdays when star double-up reserve Ty Proctor fulfils his Redcar commitments.

Van Straaten said: "Our options are limited. We will look around, but in the meantime Chris Kerr as number eight will step in."
