Harriers boss looking for trial 'gems'
Kidderminster manager Mark Yates is looking to unearth gems from the brigade of trialists spending pre-season at Aggborough.
Harriers currently have the likes of Robert Elvins, Duane Courtney and Liam Dolman training with the club, and all have been used in pre-season games so far.
It draws parallels with last year, when the likes of Keith Lowe, Martin Riley and Martin Brittain were all striving to catch the manager's eye - and all want on to play a big part in the season ahead.
Now Yates is hoping a number of these free agents can step up, play themselves into contracts and into the team for 2009/10.
He said: "We are looking at a number of players during pre-season, and a number of them are doing well. Hopefully, there will be a couple of gems amongst them like there was last year.
"But we are still speaking to players outside of that, which are not necessarily visible to everybody. We are hopeful a couple of them will also come off."
The Harriers boss has also not closed the door on trial duo Gavin Strachan and Gavin Caines, who figured for Corby and Oxford United respectively this week in a bid to earn contracts.
Yates added: "The door is not closed to anyone who has been here on trial, they are keeping all their options open and so are we."
