McPhee deal sealed as three re-sign

Kidderminster midfielder Chris McPhee believes the future is bright at Aggborough after committing the next two years to the Harriers cause.

The 26-year-old turned down an offer from League Two side Cheltenham to become the club's marquee signing, ending a summer-long pursuit by manager Mark Yates after the player spent the second-half of last season with the Blue Square Premier club.

He joins midfield partner Dean Bennett and highly-rated defender Martin Riley in ending speculation about their futures by signing new deals this week.

With Russell Penn departing for Burton in a Brewers' club-record deal, the signing of the Eastbourne-based playmaker becomes even more pivotal.

McPhee ended last season in the team, while the England C Player of the Year watched from the bench.

And despite much upheaval of the playing staff this summer, the Harriers star insists the team can hit the heights again this season.

He said: "I've seen the boys in the changing room that we have and trained with them - things look good and I'm delighted to have signed a contract.

"I'm really looking forward to the start of the new season. I enjoyed it so much here last year, everyone welcomed me with open arms.

"I want to take Kiddy forward into the new campaign and get some points on the board quickly."
