Halesowen hours away from suspension

Halesowen are hours away from suspension as angry fans threaten to force the crisis-hit club into administration.

The Yeltz, once of the region's most famous non-League outfits, will be suspended from all football by the FA unless outstanding monies are paid by midnight tonight.

Angry fans claim as much as £250,000 is owed, although boss Morrell Maison is refuting that claim and is adamant debt levels were "not close to that figure."

But it still paints a gloomy picture for a club whoich famously lit up non-League football in the 1980s with three FA Vase finals at Wembley – two ending in triumph.

Claims over the size of the club's debt were made by a "source close to the club" who had been in contact with the newly-formed Yeltz Supporters Trust.

It wants the club to be put into voluntary administration by the board as soon as possible.

The Trust reckons the club's debts were previously believed to be around £15,000, but were now more likely to be 16 times that amount.

Trust chairman Guy Cooper said: "This level of debt is unmanageable by the club and something needs to be to safeguard its future."

But the claims brought a firm denial from Maison.

He said: "The debt is not close to £250,000 but we are currently working with creditors to ensure that payments are made to the FA within days."
