McPhee to sign as Penn leaves
Kidderminster expect to complete the signing of their 'number one target' today as midfielder Chris McPhee heads to Aggborough to sign for Harriers.
The 26-year-old makes his move as fellow midfielder Russell Penn departs for Burton, having become the Brewers club-record signing yesterday.
But McPhee is expected to put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Blue Square Premier side this afternoon, after spending the second-half of last season at Aggborough.
He was released in the summer with a raft of other players as the club financially got their house in order, with manager Mark Yates coming back to the England C international with a firm offer which has now been accepted.
McPhee on board long-term is a huge coup for Harriers, only last week the player turned down the overtures of Cheltenham in the Football League.
Yates has been forced to play his cards very close to his chest in lining up his move for the Eastbourne-based playmaker, but his approach now seems to have bore fruit.
The Harriers boss reveals signing the former Brighton youngster was top of his list this summer.
He said: "Chris was my number one target this summer, he was the one I wanted to keep. The fans know first-hand what a good player he is from last season - he had a great impact on the team.
"He turned the likes of Cheltenham down to come and play for us, because he enjoyed his time here and wants to play for the club. Chris knows he is appreciated here, because we have looked after him.
"I think that went gone a long way when he made his decision."
