Himley plan to unleash Tranter again

Himley skipper Greg Wright has confirmed he plans to use batsman Chris Tranter as a bowler again following last weekend's stunning five-wicket haul.

Tranter stole the show for second-placed Himley, as they boosted their Premier Division title hopes with a 10-wicket success over Walmley.

Walmley were bowled out for just 64 before an unbeaten 49 from Tranter helped steer Himley over the line without the loss of a wicket.

Wright said: "He was very effective with the ball. We had the idea to give him a go, as we thought it was going to swing and the conditions suited him.

"He's got a lot of talent. We will use him again as and when it works for the team.

"We're still without our key bowler Tim Heap and we don't expect him back for a few weeks."

Next up is the visit of seventh-placed Barnt Green on Saturday and Wright is looking for more of the same.

He said: "We have been playing better and better as the season has gone on.

"I think we knew if we kept doing things sooner or later the results would start going our way – and they have done.

"The players are performing excellently at the moment and keeping focused, but we won't be underestimating Barnt Green."
