Defender Pierpoint leaves Rangers

Stafford have lost Stuart Pierpoint for the season ahead after the defender signed for Nuneaton at the weekend.

The 24-year-old becomes the fourth player to leave this summer after left-back Liam Murray, goalkeeper Tim Sandercombe and skipper Wayne Daniel.

Pierpoint has been given the security of a one-year deal, with Rangers only thought to be offering non-contract terms, as a reward for dropping into the Southern League Premier with Kevin Wilkin's promoted side.

But the Birmingham-born stopper came to the club last summer from that level, after leaving Halesowen with defensive partner Nick Amos for the Marston Road club.

With Pierpoint already gone, Amos' future remains unclear.
