Wolves sign Stoke's Kristiansen

Wolves have signed up Stoke's Jesper Kristiansen as their new speedway number eight.

Assuming the deal is rubber-stamped by the British Speedway Promoters Association, the Dane will go straight into the side a week tonight in the re-arranged Elite League fixture at Lakeside.

Kristiansen steps up following the neck injury which will, at best, sideline Joe Haines for nearly all the rest of the season.

Club owner Chris Van Straaten said: "I have applied for him to be our number eight.

"All being well he will make his debut next week at Lakeside. Hynek Stichauer has a prior commitment for that night in the Czech League at Pardubice.

"When he signed we were very careful to check all his fixtures, but Lakeside is a rearranged match so his other commitment takes precedence."

Kristiansen, aged 23, is enjoying a lively season at Premier League Stoke.

The Parrys International Wolves have an instant hotline on all aspects of his form.

Stoke's vastly experienced team boss John Woolridge is a former member of the Monmore promotion, has maintained his close links with the club and has been able to give a detailed assessment of Kristiansen.
