Richards happy with season's work
Kidderminster forward Justin Richards admits 2008/09 has been his best season yet - as he eyes extending his stay at Aggborough.
The 19-goal hitman is one of a host of players out of contract on Saturday, including his 21-goal strike partner Matthew Barnes-Homer - the two comprise the most potent double act in the Blue Square Premier.
With the season ended, Richards can now reflect, although the pain of missing out on the play-off's by a narrow margin on the last day still rankles with the former Albion youngster.
But he rates the work of a promising campaign as his finest yet, and that includes a 22-goal haul for Woking in 2005/06.
He said: "Overall, I feel this is the best season I have had. On a team level, most definitely. Also, it's a stronger league then when I had that season at Woking, so I feel that my goals have counted for more.
"Playing with Matthew has been the best partnership I have ever been a part of. He has come on great, I wouldn't be surprised if teams came in for him."
Now all that the 28-year-old can do is wait and see what is next, as the club work on a provisional budget and retained list for next season.
But the likelihood is that Richards will be offered terms to stay at Aggborough for a third season, the longest he has stayed at any club since leaving his second employers Bristol Rovers in May 2004.
Harriers represent the tenth club he has turned out for, a nomadic existence the striker is keen to curb.
He said: "I want to stay, there's no doubt about it. The club knows where I am, it's just a case of waiting and seeing what happens. I shall go on holiday now and look at it again when I get back.
"If both parties can agree something, I will be here next season."
