Yates targets vital Histon win

Kidderminster manager Mark Yates does not need telling that three points is vital when his side go to Histon.

The cause was hardly helped last night as their next opponents won their game in hand in dramatic fashion, coming from two goals down to drub Ebbsfleet 5-2 at Bridge Road.

That shunted the Aggborough club back down a place to fifth, as one of three teams from third on 78 points.

Stevenage - where Harriers are headed on Tuesday night - are breathing everyone's necks in sixth place on 77 points and they welcome fourth-placed Torquay to Broadhall Way tomorrow.

So three points could have optimum effect this weekend and few will fancy playing against Yates' men at present - the team are unbeaten in 13 games.

League leaders Burton were the latest to be stunned in a 2-1 win on Easter Monday and the manager has urged his team to keep up their "superb" momentum.

Whatever Histon do, his team must do better.

He said: "I fully expected them to win last night, to be honest. But it didn't really matter to us, we can't start worrying about what other teams are doing, it's down to us to make sure it stays in our own hands.

"We will be going down there to win tomorrow, make no doubt it, we wouldn't play any other way. If we win, we can affect out own destiny even more then. It's not a nice place to go, they have got a great home record and are a big, strong team - but that is what in front of us.

"We have been superb of late, we have to be exactly the same tomorrow."
