Klindt out of Belle Vue trip
Young Wolves speedway ace Nicolai Klindt is out of the high noon shootout at Belle Vue.
The 20-year-old Dane has consulted the national team's specialist in Copenhagen and been advised to rest a few more days, after dislocating his shoulder against Swindon on Monday.
But he could be back for Tuesday's return fixture at Monmore – and only his own quick thinking prevented a longer lay-off, revealed team boss Peter Adams.
The manager said: "The doctor was surprised that it's healed as quickly as it has, given the extent of the injury. But he was told he should certainly have the best part of a week off. Then it's down to him when he rides.
"He's got a commitment in Poland on Monday, so he's targeting that – which is fair enough after oversleeping and missing the Polish match last week.
"He could hardly ring them after that and say: 'Oh, by the way, I've now got a shoulder injury!'
"Provided there is no adverse reaction there, he will be back on Tuesday. The saving grace was that the shoulder was only out for seconds.
"He put it back in himself on the track, so it was only in the dislocated position for seconds. The longer the shoulder is out, the more ligament damage is done."
After the encouraging cup performance against Swindon, Adams is looking to the Parrys International Wolves to return from Manchester with a league win in the bag.
He said: "The team feels capable of doing that, even without Nicolai. We're well covered there, with Ty Proctor going well at reserve and Joe Haines got 14 there last season for Coventry. Plus Tai Woffinden can take a ride.
"It's a matter of getting off to a good start and getting control of the match.
"We've got the riders to take care of the latter part of the meeting, although Krzysztof Kasprzak has started the season in particularly good form. We're looking for a win."
