Brookes resigns at Halesowen
General manager Colin Brookes admits Halesowen's season from hell finally took its toll after he tendered his resignation.
The Yeltz stalwart, who has been at the club for 15 years, will stand down as general manager at the end of the campaign.
The Southern League Premier Division outfit are £15,000 in debt, had a transfer embargo slapped on them earlier in the season and were briefly banned from playing last week by the FA, before finding £10,000 to pay three ex-players and two clubs monies owed.
It became too much for Brookes, who will end his affiliation with the club after the final game of the season on April 25, away at Merthyr Tydfil.
He said: "It's been a difficult year and it has had an effect on me, it's been a season I wouldn't wish on anybody.
"If you stop enjoying it perhaps it's time to call it a day."
