Senior Cup worth winning for Rangers
Stafford manager Chris Brindley believes that the Staffordshire Senior Cup could be a ray of light for his side as Port Vale await in the semi-final tonight (7:45pm).
Rangers take a break from a Blue Square North relegation battle by welcoming the League Two side to Marston Road, with the winners to meet Unibond League outfit Kidsgrove Athletic in the final next month.
The home side face a potential midfield crisis for the tie, which heightened yesterday when Chris Clements returned to Crewe at the end of his one-month loan deal.
Cup-tied Jake Moult was already definitely out, while Stuart Pierpoint and Bobby Wilson both face late fitness tests.
Striker Tony Onokah is also cup-tied.
But Brindley is determined to enjoy the break from league action and has warned Vale his side will be going all out to reach the final.
He said: "We have a few unavailable and some injuries, but we will play the strongest side we can. We want to get to the final, we are taking this competition seriously but know it will be tough.
"It would certainly be something to look forward to, it's been a hard season for everybody and if we could win the cup, hopefully that would be something to show for it.
"But we have got a difficult semi-final to get through first."
