Rushall Olympic 0 AFC Goole 1
All of Rushall Olympic's recent good work went up in smoke as they slumped to a poor home defeat against struggling Goole AFC.
The lacklustre defeat dented the Pics' play-off hopes as they slipped back out of the top five, against a side who had lost their previous four games and failed to score in three of them.
During the opening period the home side created and spurned enough opportunities in front of goal to have won the game several times over.
But they failed to penetrate a resolute back line led by the visitors management team of Nigel Danby and Mick Norbury.
After Simon Forsdick sent a drive narrowly wide of the target moments earlier, Rushall had the ball in the back of the net after 15 minutes, when a good move saw Carl Palmer make ground down the right before centring to Nathan Lamey who rifled home from 10 yards, only to see the offside flag up.
The home side continued to push forward and had a big shout for a penalty, as Norbury handled Forsdick's 20-yard effort.
Lamey side-footed over and missed a relatively straightforward one-on-one with keeper Chris Hill moments later.
Olympic paid the price for missing chances seven minutes into the second period when they conceded a free-kick 25 yards out and forward Adam Lee rifled home into the bottom right corner.
As the hosts chased the game, they still managed to spurn several further good opportunities before time eventually ran out.
