Brittain tipped for Harriers role

Kidderminster manager Mark Yates has assured latest super-sub Martin Brittain that he will get more chances to impress before the season is out.

The winger climbed from the bench to help Harriers come from two goals down to beat Stevenage 4-2 in the crunch Blue Square Premier play-off clash on Saturday, having a hand in two and netting himself in the fightback.

Darryl Knights had been sacrificed to make way in the 36th minute, with Boro in the ascendancy through Lee Boylan and Mitchell Cole but down to 10 men after Darren Murphy was sent off.

It was the second time in two games that a sub had made a difference for Yates' men, with Brian Smikle on target in the 5-1 drubbing of Woking last Wednesday.

Smikle and Brittain were the first choice wingers before Christmas and, with seven games still left to play of the season, the manager has assured them they will have the opportunity to claim back those spots.

He said: "We know what Martin's been about all season, he's been brilliant. 'Brit' has played 85% of the season but has been out for the last six games, so I've just told him to be patient, wait for the chance and take it.

"It's always a squad effort, I have been saying that all season. We have a lot of good players at the football club but I can only pick 11, I have to leave people out and thats hard to do sometimes.

"We do it for the best of the team and the players know that. But, as I have said, everybody will play their part between now and the end of the season."
