We won't go down says No 2
Stafford assistant manager Darren Read has a message for the club's fans as the team sink further into the relegation mire: "We won't go down."
Rangers' sunk to within six points of the bottom three after a 2-1 defeat at Blyth Spartans on Saturday, at the same time giving a shot in the arm to another relegation rival.
Now another week dawns with a pivotal home game against Alfreton tomorrow, a trip to title-chasing Southport on Saturday and then the corresponding away game at Alfreton next Tuesday night.
If another round of fixtures ends with the Marston Road men failing to take a win, the unthinkable could nudge closer to reality - relegation to the Unibond League.
But the Stafford No 2 is convinced that won't happen, but knows there is no substitute for results and points.
He said: "If we continue to perform as we have recently week in, week out, we will pick up more points than we lose. We may have lost at Blyth, but our performance deserved more than we got. That is the way it goes when your down there.
"We won't be relegated if we play to to our potential, I am sure of it. We are starting to get a bit of consistency, recent performances have proved it. If we can keep that up, we have the firepower to keep ourselves in this league.
"But we have to start winning games - starting against Alfreton tomorrow."
