In the fourth minute, a corner from the right was flicked goalwards by Gary Birch and Dean Perrow looped the ball over Darren Gould and into the net to continue his superb recent scoring spree.

Birch went close two minutes later but sliced his effort wide of the far post.

But he was successful in the eighth minute as he headed past Gould from close range to double the Scholars' lead.

Goalkeeper Ryan Price was on hand to deny the Reds from a corner in the 12th minute and the away side quickly regrouped, with Richard Howell heading a cross from the right past Price at his far post to pull one back.

Sudbury's attacks were still causing the home defence some consternation, on the half hour a free-kick was punched away by Price but Lee Ifield bounced a header off the bar.

The killer goal finally came on 74 minutes when John Branch crossed from the right and Richard Steane side-footed the ball home from the six-yard line, to make things more comfortable for the Scholars.

The Scholars now face three home matches in a week.
