Wolves owner roars ahead of contest
Wolves hit the speedway road tonight with club owner Chris Van Straaten warning that the match at Coventry is more than just a challenge.
The Parrys International Wolves take an 11-point lead to Brandon (8pm) for the second leg, their first away match of the new season, with Van Straaten looking for a win on aggregate.
He said: "There's always pride at stake when Coventry and Wolves meet. Although it's labelled as a challenge, it's far more than that.
"I don't think they enjoyed losing on Monday, so they will be revved up to return the compliment.
"They will be a different proposition around their own circuit and they are particularly strong at the top end. If we can come away with an aggregate victory then we'll have done well."
The match will help Wolves shake off the winter cobwebs and also give reserves Ty Proctor and Hynek Stichauer – the latter new to UK racing – a chance to check out the track before the Elite League season gets under way.
Van Straaten said: "I've got no memory of Ty riding there and of course Hynek won't have been. It's useful for them when we go back on league business."
Wolves are unchanged from the first leg while the Bees track Premier League guest Brent Werner in place of Ricky Wells who is still sorting out his paperwork problems.
Nicolai Klindt warmed up with paid six from three rides last night as a strong Danish Select side won 48-42 at Peterborough.
Coventry (probable riding order): 1 Chris Harris, 2 Ben Barker, 3 Oliver Allen, 4 Edward Kennett, 5 Rory Schlein, 6 Jordan Frampton, 7 Brent Werner.
Wolves: 1 Peter Karlsson, 2 Nicolai Klindt, 3 Tai Woffinden, 4 Adam Skornicki, 5 Fredrik Lindgren, 6 Hynek Stichauer, 7 Ty Proctor.
