No 2 urges Rangers to stay tight
Stafford assistant manager Darren Read has urged the team to keep frustrating their opponents at Blyth Spartans tomorrow (3pm).
Rangers' go way up north to face their struggling opponents on the back of three successive draws in the Blue Square North, a point at Redditch followed by clean sheets at home to Droylsden and Workington.
While some of it has not been pretty, the club are three points better off in their fight for survival.
If they can nick a win in Northumberland, the Marston Road club could be 12 points clear of 20th-placed Spartans tomorrow night, who currently occupy the last relegation place.
That is the carrot on offer, and Read believes if they can stay tight at the back, the chance to pounce at the other end will come.
He said: "It has been worse for us to be fair. We are three undefeated, fair enough three draws but clean sheets in our last two home games, and a lot of the silly mistakes we have been making have been eradicated.
"It is important that the boys don't get back into a losing way now and carry on with the sort of performance that will make us tough to beat.
"Blyth is a game where we need to go and get something, if we can get away with three points it would go some way to ensuring our survival.
"If you look at our remaining fixtures, you would point at the match as one we could win. And we need to, if you look at the games left, there's only Solihull left from the bottom half of the table."
