Wilson Mr Versatile for Rangers

Stafford manager Chris Brindley has denied that he has brought Bobby Wilson back to the club as a replacement for Christian Millar.

Midfielder Millar has left the club at the end of three months on loan from League Two Macclesfield, playing his last game as a second-half sub in Tuesday's goalless draw with Workington.

But Wilson started in his second game back since returning to the club from Gainsborough, after leaving Marston Road in December after financial cutbacks.

So no sooner has Brindley bolstered the squad than he finds himself a man down, but he sees Wilson filling more than one role in his side.

He said: "It didn't work out for Bobby at Gainsborough, so he wanted to leave and we want him here. He wasn't playing there and he will get a better chance with us.

"He is a versatile player, so I wouldn't say that he is a straight replacement for Christian. He covers a few areas.

"At the end of the day, whatever wages he was on there or whatever wages he was on with us earlier in the season, he is not come back to us for that. He is here for a fraction of that.

"It's obvious that the lad just wants to play football and we can offer that. He is a good player and we are trying to assemble the best players that we can with the resources we have."
