Skornicki calls for fan calm
Fans favourite Adam Skornicki has called for the Wolves team and fans to band together as he chases a second successive speedway league title.
While Wolves endured a season of torment propping up last year's table, the popular Pole put two thirds of a point on his average and another Elite League winner's medal on the mantelpiece on loan at Poole.
Now back at Monmore, Skornicki told supporters at the pre-season talk-in that the 2009 Parrys International Wolves could finish in the top two, ready for the play-offs.
He said: "I'm full of optimistic things. I really enjoyed last year at Poole, but I know what happened here. I know what you're expecting from us and we also have a new team, a very young team.
"I'm not going to let the young guns down. I really want to be with them and hope that we are definitely going to finish in the top two."
Asked whether Wolves' strong top two of Peter Karlsson and Fredrik Lindgren mirrored Poole's spearhead of Bjarne Pedersen and Chris Holder as the way to go, Skornicki immediately put the responsibility on the whole side.
He said: "The team is about the seven riders who turn up for the meeting. We have a really good side with PK and Freddie, but all the seven riders have to do the job.
"I really believe we can do well this year. We just need good support from you. We don't want moaning supporters!"
Skornicki launched his British career at Wolves in 2000 and was part of the title-winning team two seasons later.
He said: "Wolves always was the special team for me and I'm really happy to come back here. Special track, special team."
"Sqora" will also be looking to repeat his shock 2008 Polish Championship victory, which saw him brush aside a glittering field that included Tomasz Gollob.
