Brummie rider Roberts retires
Birmingham Speedway have confirmed that Jack Roberts will not be riding for the club this season.
He wants to focus on his career outside the sport.
The youngster has "reluctantly" turned down the offer of doubling up with the Perry Barr club, while serving his apprenticeship as a builder.
BRC Roofing Brummies boss Graham Drury said: "It was a hard decision for Jack but one we have to fully understand and respect. We wish the lad well and hope to see him back on a bike at Perry Barr soon, because he's got some talent to offer.
"But with the way the economic climate is right now, he's made the sensible decision.
"He can't afford to waste the opportunity, he has to develop a career away from speedway and that's fine."
Roberts had been set to double up with Ben Taylor for the BRC Roofing Brummies – Taylor has now been named as a full-time member of the team.
