Wolves stage their customary pre-season practice on March 10 but with an added twist this year.

As well as the usual shakedown when riders do practice laps there will be half-an-hour of proper racing, revealed club owner Chris Van Straaten.

He said: "Traditionally we have always opened our pre-season practice to the public, in return for a pound for local charities.

"This year we are trying to enhance it a little bit and appeal to people who have read about us, or seen us on TV, but never experienced the excitement that speedway can give.

"Gates will open at 7pm and, once the lads have blown away the cobwebs, from 7.30-8pm we will be staging races.

"We will have announcers there to identify the riders, so everyone knows what's going on.

"I think there will be a lot of interest among our usual fans too. There have been a lot of team changes this year and it's an opportunity to see how the new riders look on the track, particularly the young Czech Hynek Stichauer who will be making his debut in the UK."

All the Parrys International Wolves team will be present, but the session is also available to other riders while an open invitation has been issued to the Birmingham Brummies.

The following evening all the Wolves riders and management will be present at the club's pre-season fans' talk-in at Chillington WMC in Hickman Avenue, just round the corner from Monmore Green.

Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.
