Millar unlikely to stay at Rangers

Stafford manager Chris Brindley has admitted for the first time that loan star Christian Millar could leave the club later this month.

The midfielder's loan spell from League Two Macclesfield expires on March 18, after which he will have completed three months of service at Marston Road.

There is still hope that the 19-year-old will be able to stay but, with loan regulations and the parent club's stance on the player, the decision is likely to be taken out of Rangers' hands.

Millar still has three games left to play, a trip to Redditch followed by home games against Droylsden and Workington.

But, even then, losing another one of his promising midfield quartet is the last thing Brindley needs, especially after Chris Flynn left the club to join Eastwood on Tuesday.

Jonathan Loukes has also departed to coach in the USA, although Liam Murray has returned to hometown club as a replacement.

The manager has identified the problem and is searching for a solution.

He said: "We have got Christian for these next two games and that will probably be it for him. He has been here on loan for this time and I don't think we can have him for any longer.

"We will just have to see that happens. If I lose two of my first-choice midfielders, then I will have to bring players in to plug those gaps, depending on what the club can afford.

"It could well be a problem, depending on what happens."
