Rangers ready for six-pointer
Stafford manager Chris Brindley believes the term 'six-pointer' was made for their clash with Hyde at Marston Road tomorrow (3pm).
Rangers take on their Blue Square North relegation rivals in the first of three vital games over seven days.
Hyde come to town fighting for their lives one place above the last drop spot and, although seven points separate the two, they are level on games played with 27.
Everybody from Rangers' 14th place down to the bottom four have games in hand, with basement boys Hucknall and Andy Mutch's Burscough - who host Brindley's side next Saturday - also on 27.
The boss admits that one glance at the table highlights the importance of three points this weekend.
He said: "It's a six pointer, make no doubt about it. Hyde are one of the few teams below us in the league, so we have every chance of coming away with three points.
"They came to watch us at Hednesford the other night, so no doubt will be targeting us as a side they can take points from and suck us further into relegation trouble. They are fighting for their lives, so their need is even greater than ours.
"You have only got to look at the league to see how important the game is."
Brindley let Andre Francis, Christian Millar, Jonathan Loukes and goalkeeper Tim Sandercombe all miss training last night, in the hope that they can shake off knocks to make the game.
With a trip to play-off chasing Hinckley looming on Monday night (7:45pm), they will all be needed.
But Stuart Pierpoint and Jake Moult will return, while Matthew Buckham is expected to be added to the squad after scoring on his debut at Hednesford in midweek.
Brindley just wants to get a vital seven days for the club under way.
He said: "It's not just a massive game for us tomorrow, it is a massive week for us. We have these three games and if we don't take anything from that, we are going to find ourselves in real trouble. For me, it's the most crucial week of the season.
"Looking even past that, we have got some real tough games, so it is really vital we put in a good performance and get a good result against Hyde.
"We have four straight away games after this, so to sign off with a good win would be a real boost."
