Read backing for debut star
Stafford assistant manager Darren Read believes Matthew Buckham has given manager Chris Brindley plenty to think about this week.
Buckham scored on his debut as Rangers beat Hednesford 2-1 on Tuesday night, to set up an April 8 Staffordshire Senior Cup semi-final with Port Vale.
The left-winger is known to the club after coming through the youth ranks at Marston Road, before leaving to study at university.
Now back in the area, the wide man plays for Stafford Town, but is registered to play for Rangers.
After his impressive first start for the club, Read reckons he can have the same effect on the first-team as Jimmy Phillips, the Stoke attacker who spent two months at the club earlier this season.
The No 2 said: "Matty has been on forms with us since Christmas time, but still plays his football week in and week out for Stafford Town. I have known him for a few years and he is a very talented local lad. He comes highly recommended to us.
"He gave us that little bit of a cutting edge going forward the other night, maybe the sort of thing we have been missing since Jimmy Phillips went back to Stoke. We have missed him, so maybe Matty can fill that role.
"He has done his chances no harm - in my eyes or in the eyes of the manager."
