Rangers want to keep Millar

Stafford manager Chris Brindley will be looking to keep midfielder Christian Millar at Marston Road when his loan terms expire in a fortnight.

Millar is into the second month of a move from League Two Macclesfield and has been a virtual ever present in the Rangers' side.

He was one of Brindley's first signings when he took charge in December, coming to the club just days after financial troubles led to the departure of former manager Steve Bull.

Now Millar is an integral part of a promising quartet also including fellow loanee Tom Thorley, Chris Flynn and Jake Moult.

But whether Brindley can keep his midfield together could well depend on his negotiations with Macclesfield over the next two weeks.

He said: "We have got Christian for these last two weeks and we will be hoping to extend it after that. It is a case of seeing what we can do. He is playing first-team football here, so I hope Macclesfield will allow him to stay if he is not going to play there.

"We'll have to cross that bridge when we come to it."

Rangers' will again train on the Marston Road pitch tonight, with a home game against Stalybridge in the Blue Square North on Saturday looming.

Brindley knows the pitch needs time to recover before then.

He said: "It's very wet and we have to be careful, we cannot afford for the game to be off on Saturday. We will try and train somewhere else on Thursday night, maybe indoors, to give the pitch a bit of a break and bring the players in from the cold!

"The pitch is soaked but I think we have seen the worse of it, so fingers crossed. It's an important game for us."

The club have also announced special ticket prices for the Valentines Day game, with couples able to attend the Stalybridge match for £15.

Adult prices are lowered to £10, concessions cost just £5 and children under 12 accompanied by an adult go free.
