Sylvan Ebanks-Blake missed a last-minute penalty as Wolves' stuttering promotion push took another twist.

Mick McCarthy's men have now won just one of their last eight games and they have now failed to win at the Sky Blues' new home in four visits.

In a game of few chances, Wolves' biggest away following since last April - 4,736 - saw their side trail to a 24th minute Michael Doyle opener.

The midfielder tapped home after his own header forward had forced a shot onto the post by Clinton Morrision, from goalkeeper Keiren Westwood's long kick.

It took the arrival of his substitute Sam Vokes, on for Iwelumo, to equalise as the 19-year-old headed home Michael Kightly's 72nd minute corner at the far post - just nine minutes after coming on.

But that only served to spark a fresh surge by the Sky Blues and, after Jordan Henderson volleyed just wide, Leon McKenzie somehow curled over with the goal at his mercy, the latter made it 2-1 on 75 when he squeezed home an angled shot.

Wolves had a great chance to level when they were awarded a spot-kick in the dying seconds.

Ebanks-Blake stepped up but Westwood saved. The only consolation is promotion rivals Reading and Blues also drew.
