The 34-year-old had been on trial at Aggborough for the last fortnight and manager Mark Yates had spoken to the player with a view to him signing for Harriers.

But Burton stepped in to offer the former Walsall striker a deal until the end of the season, which the striker accepted last night.

Harriers boss Mark Yates said: "Burton offered him more money than we could, so that is the end of the story. We spoke to him about a deal but he chose to go there, that is the end of the matter."

The Aggborough club have had little time to train on their own pitch this week but are not affected as much as most - they are not in action until the Setanta cameras come to town at home to Cambridge on Monday night.

The weather has led to the club putting out an appeal for help to shift snow off the pitch at Aggborough tomorrow morning at 10am.

Yates added: "We have not trained a lot this week, we have had to give the lads a couple of days off because of the conditions. We are not playing until Monday and that is probably for the best, we have a bit more time to prepare.

"Lets just hope we get the game on."
