Brindley expecting not to play

Stafford boss Chris Brindley is "90 per cent" certain his team will not make their scheduled trip to Alfreton in the Blue Square North tomorrow (3pm).

Rangers await confirmation that their Blue Square North match has fallen foul of the weather, as most of the games in the league are expected to.

Brindley's side may be ill prepared if they do have to play, having not trained all week due to the condition of the pitch at Marston Road.

But, until the official word is given, it is business as usual, but the manager would rather not go to Derbyshire.

He said: "I don't think it will go ahead. I reckon it is about 90 per cent certain the game is off, but we won't know for sure until tonight, maybe even tomorrow morning.

"There's nothing we can do about it, most football teams at our level are in the same boat.

"We haven't trained all week, so it would probably be for the best that the match is off anyway. You can't expect players to be travelling down for training with the conditions as they have been. I have to think about the safety of the lads.

"I would be amazed if we play at Alfreton, to be honest."
