Yates feared the worst for midfielder
Kidderminster manager Mark Yates is pleased he has only lost midfielder Russell Penn for four to six weeks - he feared it could have been months.
The England C international has been diagnosed with a sprained knee ligament after a scan this week, after being stretchered off in Harriers' 1-0 defeat at Barrow last Saturday.
He should be fit to return in just over a month, which is music to the ears of his boss, who feared the worst for one of his star players.
With the transfer window closing on Monday, Yates must now decide whether to add in midfield to cover his absence, with the Aggborough boss admitting he has already been knocked back in proposed moves for players.
So far defender Craig Armstrong is the only new man on board, cover for a position that the manager feels he has all bases covered - despite a fortnight out for skipper Mark Creighton with a hamstring injury.
He said: "It is actually very good news. Better for Russell to be out for four to six weeks, rather than nine to 10 months, which could have been the case. We are delighted with the end result, because we knew he would be out for a while.
"Whether I need to bring a midfielder in, we will see. We are always looking for players that can improve the squad, but they must be able to add to what we have rather than be the same. If the right player comes along, we will move.
"We will miss Mark also, but I can confidently say we have enough options in defence to cope. We are not looking to add in that area."
