The 33-year-old former Nottingham Forest centre-back joins after his release from League Two Cheltenham, having recently been loaned out to Blue Square Premier leaders Burton.

Armstrong brings a wealth of experience with over 400 Football League appearances under his belt - including time in the top-flight with Forest - with career transfer fees totalling £850,000.

Harriers become the 14th club of the player's career - six of those loan spells - with Huddersfield, Sheffield Wednesday and Bradford among his former employers.

Aggborough boss Mark Yates - who also saw trial midfielder Andy Johnson join Kings Lynn yesterday - is delighted with his first capture of the transfer window, who becomes the oldest player in the squad by a margin of three years.

Yates said: "He is experienced, can play in a number of positions and he is a good player full stop. I've known him for a while. He has been at Burton this season and done well, so we're delighted to have him on board."
