Wellecomme absent for Rangers trip
Stafford manager Chris Brindley will have to do without striker Nick Wellecomme for their tough trip to Harrogate tomorrow (3pm).
The powerful frontman, who has yet to start since rejoining the club last month, will also miss Tuesday's match at bottom side Hucknall.
He could well have been included in the starting-line up against the Blue Square North play-off chasers, after regular duo David McNiven and Mark Magee disappointed in last Saturday's defeat at Burscough.
But Wellecomme's absence leaves only the untested Darryl Proffitt as another attacking option - and he replaced Magee last time out.
The Rangers boss also has a hole to plug in midfield, after Dean Craven returned to Bromsgrove at the end of his one-month loan deal.
Nick Amos is set to step up from the bench to take his place in the centre of the park. Jonathan Loukes is also set to start.
Brindley said: "We have just got to go to Harrogate and get stuck in, that is what I want from the players. The senior lads who under-performed last weekend will have to do a lot better than they did against Burscough.
"We will work hard, apply ourselves and do our best. If we come up short after that, then we come up short."
Rangers away form throughout the season has been one of their strengths and - while the landscape has certainly changed over the last month - their last trip remains the shock 1-0 win at AFC Telford on New Years Day.
Similar application could serve them well at the CNG Stadium in North Yorkshire, against a side aiming to go one better then sixth place last term.
Neil Aspin's side have lost just once at home in the league this season but they were drubbed on the road last weekend, crashing 4-1 at Alfreton.
When the match is done and dusted, Brindley will then prepare for Hucknall - a game they will certainly be expected to win.
He said: "The players effort is not in question. What we now need to do is apply ourselves on the pitch at Harrogate and then at Hucknall, and see what we can get out of those trips. We need points, there is no doubt about that.
"There are two very vital games for us."
